Heel–Side back with another DC dossier. This time, we’re profiling the mecca of organic, raw tonics called Gouter. These tasty beverages that you can find at yoga studios and organic markets across DC are NOT juices, and that’s what makes them rave-worthy. They’re based on a water, lemon, coconut nectar, and cayenne base with superfoods added for specific benefits. Stretch, Digest, and Balance are some of our favorites, utilizing ingredients like turmeric, aloe, and spirulina.
Take them up on a cleanse to get the full benefit of Gouter. Ranging from 3-7 days, you can opt for 6 tonics per day, 5 tonics and a raw superfood salad per day, or 5 tonics and a “melk” per day. They will guide you through the cleanse starting with eating in preparation for your cleanse, delivering the tonics to your door, and ending with instructions on how to reintroduce foods when your cleanse is done. And, because these are tonics, not sugary juices, it really is a reset for your system. We all agreed that even after only 3 days, our sugar cravings (I’m looking at you 3PM peanut M&Ms) were nowhere to be found.

- Breakfast: Brown Rice Breakfast Bowl with Cinnamon-Spiced Apples and Walnuts
- Lunch: Sautéed Fennel and Skillet-Toasted Almonds over a bed of Organic Baby Arugula
- Dinner: Lemon-Scented Quinoa with Grilled Artichokes and Farm Fresh Asparagus
With all the hype, our team at Heel-Side had to take Sakara for a test ride. Five days, literally a different office. Skin was glowing, there was energy in the air, we felt great and the best part about it all was – there was so much food! This green gift from Sakara is far removed from the downward spiral of being hungry and cranky while craving all the wrong things. We at Heel-Side agree – we are joining the cult of clean at Sakara Life.
