In this feature, Jane Mulkerrins discovers what fires this Portuguese model up. Passionate, honest and unafraid to make a stand when it comes to her body or her career, Portuguese model SARA SAMPAIO is a woman with conviction. This article is worth a thorough top to bottom read. The article isn’t the only worthwhile aspect of this segment, the images are stunning. This photographer happens to be my VERY talented friend Hanna Tveite. You captured by definition the true model athlete.

Danielle Duboise and Whitney Tingle are the co-founders of Sakara Life. Launched in 2011, the brand Sakara, meaning “with form” in Sanskrit, holds their principal belief that food is medicine. Their meal delivery program is based on a whole-food, plant-rich diet that includes fresh, nutrient-dense, and delicious ingredients delivered to your door. Quickly gaining a cult following and known as THE model staple and a common household name among the celebrity scene. Gwyneth Paltrow took her love for Sakara Life from fan to family – officially endorsed by Paltrow’s lifestyle brand GOOP.
The Sakara Life Nutritional Pillars:
- No calorie counting
- Plant protein
- Hydrating foods
- Good fats
- Eat the rainbow
- Sulfur-rich vegetables
- Body intelligence
Every meal contains the highest quality ingredients (calorie counting is not part of this game plan). Meals are delivered right to your door/desk, ready-made (and ready to eat) organic, vegetarian, and adaptable for food allergies. Focus on local sourcing provides constantly changing menu choices, only fresh seasonally specific produce. Deliveries are made up to three times a week (depending on order size). There is no weekend delivery – participants are encouraged make meals and provided similar cleanse-consistent recipes. It just so happens that Sakara Life cares about the environment as well – all packaging is compost friendly and/or biodegradable.
A full day will run you $100 dollars: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Larger packages of 5 days or 20 will lower the daily cost and save you some money. Take a look at a sample menu below:
- Breakfast: Brown Rice Breakfast Bowl with Cinnamon-Spiced Apples and Walnuts
- Lunch: Sautéed Fennel and Skillet-Toasted Almonds over a bed of Organic Baby Arugula
- Dinner: Lemon-Scented Quinoa with Grilled Artichokes and Farm Fresh Asparagus
With all the hype, our team at Heel-Side had to take Sakara for a test ride. Five days, literally a different office. Skin was glowing, there was energy in the air, we felt great and the best part about it all was – there was so much food! This green gift from Sakara is far removed from the downward spiral of being hungry and cranky while craving all the wrong things. We at Heel-Side agree – we are joining the cult of clean at Sakara Life.
